March saw record-breaking sales for the Maserati Quattroporte, with the best month since the model was introduced to the American market in 2004. It was always going to be tough to follow a performance like that – but, just as on the road, the Quattroporte proved to be stunningly capable. The new Automatic transmission, alongside the established DuoSelect gearbox, powered Maserati to another great month in April, making it the best month in the history of Maserati North America.

In selling 242 cars in the US the supremely desirable Italian brand registered a year-on-year increase of an incredible 40% - performance which is in stark contrast to its competitors, as almost every other car in the sports sedan segment saw a fall in sales. More than that, as Quattroporte owner Bruno Jamais comments, no matter how many Maserati Quattroporte cars are sold, it remains a uniquely exclusive sedan, and yet rarity alone “is not what makes the car special”. It is the fact that every Maserati is in another class from its competition. In fact, I would say there is no real competitionIve driven them all, and they are fine cars, but they are not sporting. But above all, they are all the same. I appreciate that Maserati allows me to have exactly the Maserati I want. It is a special experience.
The DuoSelect paddle-shift manual transmission is still proving a popular choice for driving enthusiasts who want to maximize the performance of their Quattroporte with the immediate throttle response and unprecedented chassis balance this model offers: 30% of Quattroporte sales in April were DuoSelects, many of those to existing Maserati owners who love the performance of the paddle-shifted manual and can’t imagine driving a Quattroporte any other way.
While the DuoSelect continues to cater to the enthusiast, the new Automatic is bringing new owners into the Maserati family, accounting for much of the growth in sales. The wonderfully flexible 6-speed Automatic transmission for the Quattroporte is proving a sales winner, accounting for 70% of Quattroporte sales during April.
 2008 GranTurismo
In addition to record sales in April, the North American debut of the ground-breaking GranTurismo at the New York Auto Show made it a truly exciting month for Maserati. The aggressively styled GranTurismo is setting new standards in the sports coupe segment, and generated huge interest from the press and public. With the car due to go on sale later this year, 2007 promises to be a remarkable year for Maserati.
