More: Teutonic Tribute | Beautiful Birdcage | Super Sedan's Supreme Sales
The world's most dynamic and beautiful prototype, awarded Best Concept at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2005, points the way forward for Maserati design and engineering. Design partner Pininfarina, celebrating its own 75th Anniversary and Maserati's phenomenal resurgence as the premium maker of sports GT cars, pulled out all the stops in creating the Birdcage 75th. It immediately became the focus of attention throughout the global Auto show circuit for its style, innovative and realistically futuristic design, and its performance. Unlike most concept cars this one actually runs well enough to race because of Maserati MC12 super car engineering.
Featured in static display at the 2005 motor shows and at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Birdcage 75th has gained even greater approbation at events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it participated in the hill climb. evo, the UK's premier enthusiast magazine, featured the car in its August issue after Editorial Director Harry Metcalfe was deeply impressed by his ride in it with Maserati CEO Karl-Heinz Kalbfell. Nick Mason, noted musician, vintage racer, and owner of a pair of the Tipo 60 and 61 Maserati Birdcage sports racers after which the new prototype is named, was enchanted by his drive in the car, discussed elsewhere in this issue of Maserati Monthly.
You can see the Birdcage 75th in Maserati's New York Showroom on Park Avenue at 55th Street until 22 December, and on the Maserati stand at the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 6-15 January 2006. Come and experience this dynamic and exciting expression of Maserati's bright future.
