Making a big impact, Maserati brought out the heavy hitters for the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Former boxer and current CEO of Maserati, Karl Heinz Kalbfell, President of Maserati North America, James Selwa, and Maserati PR chief Luca Dal Monte each took a turn describing the Trident's snowballing success: a 92% increase in cars delivered during 2005 to North American buyers, for a total of over 2000; the triumphant return to racing on both sides of the Atlantic which saw the MC12 sweep to constructor's and team championships in the FIA GT series; the forthcoming establishment of a Maserati Master GT Driving School program in North America to better serve the growing North American family of Maseratisti; expansion of the model line for 2006.
Introduced at the show were two new Quattroportes: the Executive GT and the Sport GT. The former emphasizes luxury in the four door super car, while the latter sharpens its dynamic responses much as the GranSport does for the Coupe. Both models are a triumph, targeting the individual needs of Maserati clients even more closely than before, and MaseratiMonthly will feature them in upcoming issues.
Maserati's understated and elegant stand drew interest from both press and public by highlighting cars that are manifestly special and exciting. Along with the Quattroportes were an example of the fast and fast-selling GranSport Coupe and the eagerly anticipated GranSport Spyder. Maserati product specialists were in much demand by those who wished to learn more about the distinguished automobiles displayed beneath the apt slogan for Maserati at this year's show: Excellence Through Passion.
