Robb Report Romance

"The sound throughout the rev range is worth the price of admission - especially when the car is in Sport mode, when freer-flowing exhaust and quicker shift mapping add layers to the motor's music. One would not be insane to buy this vehicle for the exhaust note alone". Another year, another superb review of Maserati in The Robb Report, America's leading luxury lifestyle magazine.

The panel of successful and sophisticated enthusiasts judging the 2006 Car of The Year competition found the GranSport bested such sporting machines as the Dodge Viper SRT/10 Coupe, Chevrolet's Corvette Z06 and BMW's vaunted M5. The cars were judged purely on merit since price is irrelevant to these drivers who anointed GranSport the best 4-seat Coupe, recognizing it as "a fierce but distinguished daily driver." Commenting on its performance and versatility, the illustrious panel said "Apart from the Ferrari 612, this may be the only GT in which four adults can travel in comfort, which places it high on the daily-driver list" that it has "the best electronic gearbox on the market" and that "the Maserati also will appeal more to the performance-oriented driver who wants a less flashy exterior, a superior fit and finish, and a race-derived drivetrain."

With specific reference to a new Aston Martin, The Robb Report commented the "update of Italdesign-Giugiaro's original form appears handsome and purposeful - as opposed to Aston Martin pretty" and noted "Although it costs roughly the same and shares the GranSport's basic specification, the Vantage will be produced in far greater numbers."

Perhaps the ultimate accolade is that the CEO of CurtCo Robb Media owns a 90th Anniversary Spyder, while its Senior VP and Creative Director traded his Porsche for a GranSport!
